Washington State Arts Commission’s Folk Arts Program

Created in 1991, the Washington State Arts Commission’s Folk Arts program helped to preserve, present, and protect the traditional arts of Washington’s many diverse cultures. Program goals were to document, identify, honor, and perpetuate these traditions by encouraging public awareness and appreciation of folk arts. The Center for Washington Traditions is proud to continue the rich legacy of folklife work in this state. The Center is currently working on a plan to manage and present the vast collection of materials generated by the Washington State Arts Commission’s Folklife Program, but in the mean time, please check out the following online collections and resources:
